Bohn, English publisher and bookseller, published this catalog seven years after the apprearance of his Guinea Catalogue, one of the outstanding book catalogs of all time. This is volume 1 of what would be three volumes, the last volume to appear in 1848. Bohn states in the preface to this volume that his collection of books comprises more than half a million volumes, the largest numbre, he believes, ever collected for the purposes of trade by any individual. A work of scholarship which to this day remains a valuable reference.
